Compatible dimmer (LED requires special types)
Voltage tester or multimeter
Screwdriver
Wire stripper and possibly electrical tape
Switch off the power in your fuse box. Always double-check with a voltage tester before touching any wires.
Unscrew and remove the wall plate and switch.
Pull out the switch and disconnect the wires.
Take notes or photos of the wire positions.
Strip wires if needed.
Connect the live wire (L) to the L terminal.
Connect the load wire (often black) to the ~ terminal.
If present, isolate the ground wire properly.
Fit the dimmer securely into the wall box.
Attach the wall plate and knob.
Turn power back on.
Test the dimmer’s operation: does the light dim smoothly?
Always match dimmer to the bulb type.
Trailing-edge dimmers work best with LEDs.
Buzzing or flickering? Try another dimmer or LED model.
