Connecting a ceiling fan to a light switch can be a practical solution to control both lighting and ventilation. As you know, this requires some basic electrical knowledge. However, by carefully following the steps, you can easily do it yourself.
Ceiling fan with wiring
Light switch (single or double)
Screwdriver
Voltage tester
Insulation tape
Fan manual
Before you begin, turn off the power at the circuit breaker. Use a voltage tester to ensure that no power is running through the wires. This prevents accidents and ensures a safe working environment.
Remove the cover plate of the existing switch.
Note which wire is connected where (phase, lamp wire, neutral wire).
Disconnect the wires and remove the switch.
Connect the phase (L) to the input of the switch.
Connect the neutral wire to both the fan and the lighting.
Connect the lamp wire to the lighting.
Connect the fan wire to the fan unit.
Turn the power back on and test the switch. Does the lighting and fan work as intended? If not, check the wiring again.
